I'll just bid 1NT.

I don't think this hand is too strong, 18 is *well* within my range

Plus the KJ aren't as good as face value. I really don't see another option.

Pass is for the loonies.

Please post this hand in the painful bridge hands forum.

I won't bid 1NT, it is too strong.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I often sell myself as a heavy 1NT overcaller, but I double on this one.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Its not that heavy when you consider your long suit is the suit opened so may not run.

Last night I overcalled 1NT on:

Dealer: North
Vul: EW
Scoring: IMP
♠ AQ72
♥ 75
♦ A
♣ AKJ762

West North East South

 -     Pass  1♣    1NT
 Pass  2♣    Pass  2♠
 Pass  Pass  Pass

Therefore the current hands is a ...

WTP 1NT!!!

Therefore

If you are using that word to imply that any decision anyone makes on any other bridge hand should be based in any way on your choice of 1NT on that hand, I disagree.

I do agree with your point that the suit may not run since an opponent is long in it. In fact if I did not have the 10 of diamonds I would just bid 1NT. However I think the T9 gives me good enough odds of running diamonds.

Double then NT
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

X

I have good chance of being able to rebid 1Nt on the 2nd round if not 2Nt over 2C is ok.

The tough problem imo is if it goes.

(2M)---???
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

I meant just for me in my current state of thinking.

What would you have called on the hand in my post?
