Scoring: IMP

(1♦) - 1♥ - (pass) - 3♥
(-X-) - Pass - (4♠) - Pass
(6♠) - Pass - Pass - Pass

Sorry if this is too much like Hans hand, but this is how it happened at the table.

Your lead?

Edit: 2♥ bid changed to 3♥

♣9

Leading ♠ is foolish.
Leading ♥ could help declarer make an impossible finesse when dummy is void.
Leading ♦ might help declarer develop the diamonds.
That leaves ♣. Maybe partner holds KJ behind the dummy's AQ.

A difference is that the auction was understandable in my post. Here it is not.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

♠. Unlikely any ♣ tricks we have are going anywhere.

Even with the edit, the auction makes little sense.. but, before the edit, I was writing that the opps must be wired.

I am having trouble with any hand that can jump to 4♠ and not squeak out 1♠.

And then the 6♠ call is weird as well, because opener must have the same doubts about what 4♠ shows.

Maybe AKJx void AKQxx KJxx opposite xxxxxx Axx x xxx?

Well, the 4♠ bidder is a junior, but the 6♠ bidder is a very competent player.

By junior, do you mean bad?

Not an underbidder, sensible declarer.

Maybe 4♠ is a little strange. Nonetheless, you have to find a lead.

♣9. ♦3 was my second choice, but even if PD ruffs I can't see the second defense trick (though my partner should have it).

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the ♥3.

I'm gonna lead a heart on grounds that the likely holding for opener is a 4-1-4-4 with a 19-20 hcp, or maybe a 4-2-4-3 if he's an overbidder.

He can of course have 5 diamonds but I find that more unlikely than a 4441 or 4432, so I'll try and cash a heart trick which CAN run away on top diamonds.

Lol. 4144 with 19-20 hcp would not be overbidding?

No it wouldn't. It would be insane. (You can count it out.)

It doesn't matter if it would be overbidding or not. It has been found more likely than 5+ diamonds so there is no argument to be made!

Full hand:

Scoring: IMP

I'm glad a few posters went with my choice , the club lead.

As can be seen, it wasn't a succés. A heart lead and a heart force when in with the ♣K sinks it.

I'm tempted to double that but maybe I should check with GIB first.

Can't you ruff the opening heart lead and play a club to the jack?

If north ducks, you cash the diamond queen, go to dummy in trump, ruff a diamond, go to dummy in trump, ruff a diamond and go to dummy in clubs. You give up a club in the end.

If north goes up with the club king and plays a heart you ruff the continuation, pull trump and claim.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.
