An interesting hand turned up this afternoon. I know I horribly overbid this, but it worked.

Scoring: IMP

Anyway, I opened 1H, 1S overcall, 2D by partner, 3S on the right. I tried 5D, 5S and then back to me. I tried 5NT, and we ended up in 6D. Would double here be Lightner?

Clearly a H lead is the only one that sets the contract.

Lightner double is not played in situation when you can count on thier bid to be accurate to make. in competitive bidding double is just ment to take the contract down.

There is a better solution here then lightner double, west had to bid 5h instead of 5sp.

X by West would have been Ligtner.
What I am really wondering about is what 5 NT is. Is your pd's 2 a negative freebid? The only bidding I trust is opps, whatever N/S are on, they should keep to themselfs.
