Reading about the latest scheme involving 800 billion, I started wondering how some famous quotes might be updated or appliede:
Ev Dirksen: A hundred billion here and a hundred billion there and pretty soon we are talking about real money.
Richard Nixon: I am not an investment banker.
John Kennedy: Ask not what your banker can do for you, ask what you can do for your banker.
Harry Truman: The buck stops here, not that a buck is worth anything anymore. (Yes, I know it was a different sort of buck.)
Franklin Roosevelt: We have nothing to fear but fear itself, and this scares the crap out of me.
Teddy Roosevelt: President Bush means well, he just means well feebly (Substitute Bush->Taft to get the historical quote).
Herbert Hoover: It's deja vu all over again.
Calvin Coolidge (Silent Cal):.............
Mark Twain needs no updating: Dear Reader, imagine that you are a senator and imagine that you are an idiot. But then I repeat myself.
