Scoring: IMP

S     W     N     E

1 - P - 2 - 3

P -    P - 3

How many do you expect from that bid?
4 - 5 - 6 or more?

And what is you next bid?
Do you stay or correct?

-----

My partner had:

Q73
A8763
J3
852

I passed 3 , as I expected a 6 card - but of course limited points as he/she didn't bid 2 in first round.
If only a 5 card why introduce it?

Any comments are appreciated.

I would expect a min of

Qxx
AQxx
xxx
xxx

and a max of

Qxx
AQTxx
xx
xxx

In any case a 3 bid rates to be correct, due to possible 4 losers in the minor suits (as was the case).

I think p it's simply informing you about a good lead. Sometime you have AJ109x... and not AK10xx

I don't think at all about HOW MANY... but about HOW STRONG are his .

Sometime 3 are bid with AQJ... think about something like xxx AQJ xx xxxxx.
I think this would be an acceptable exemple... okok... I hope...

You have found a fit, but there is still a lot to learn about your combined hands and how well the will work together.
Your partner limited his hand, so you should not expect much.
Partner has a cheap 3 bid for you, to make the best possible choice.
Your partner knows that you shape is most likely 5332 or 5422 (with a singleton you might have made another move), so there is a chance that your side has a double-fit and he tells you that if you have to lead, lead might be a good idea.
