Four busy days (starting today, Thursday) in the vugraph theatre with broadcasts from the Netherlands, Portugal, Monaco and Poland. No disrespect to the other three, but the main event is definitely the European Champions' Cup from Amsterdam.

National team champions from the Top 10 nations in Pau this summer, Italy, Russia, Netherlands, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Bulgaria, Iceland, and Denmark, plus one each from Italy (holders) and the Netherlands (hosts). The 12 teams are divided into two groups where they play a round-robin with 20-board matches. The first two from both groups will advance to the semi-finals Saturday.

The link to the tournament website is ...

The good news is that they will be using Jan Romanski's outstanding scoring program so that we will get running scores in all matches. We will be broadcasting from four tables (two matches) in every round.

I have got our matches for RR1, 2 and 3. They are:

RR1: Norway v Russia and Italy (Angelini) v Iceland.
RR2: Norway v France and Germany v Denmark.
RR3: Italy (Angelini) v Russia and Germany v Italy (San Giorgio).

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice
