Money bridge game (low stakes) ...
System : 2/1 (GIB)
Is 2♦ ok here? GIB passed in this situation, so I'm a bit confused.
what would you bid here if it wasn't a passed hand? I know that 2♦ is forcing, but I don't remember how many points it promises.

Making a negative double is also possible.

2♦ is non-forcing by a passed hand!
Negative double promises 4 spades and is not an option for me.

2D by an unpassed hand is forcing, promising something like
+8/9 and a good suit, the suit will be better, if you are weaker.

If you dont like the suit quality, you either pass or make a
neg. X. I am not sure, if GIB assumes, that the neg. X promises
4 spades, ... maybe / maybe not.

Pass is certainly the bid which will lead to the least expensive
loss, and you may still recover, if opener is stronger.
