Thinking about the numerous advantages to playing 1S-2D showing hearts in "any" system. I was wondering wether someone had a good response structure or bid summary over what each bid should contain and how to follow up on this.

I'm especially looking for one structure where opener is limited to 15-16points or so but anything will actually go. I would also like the 2D-bidder to be able to bid 2D with 8+hpc-hands.

Could someone direct me to where I can read more about this?

Thank in advance
/Daniel

If you go to Dan Neill's page with all the systems and look up Ambra, Benito Garrozzo has designed a structure like this.

My regular partner and I were planning to switch to this method but changed our minds after spending a couple of hours in the Partnership Bidding area testing out a fairly simple response structure. Off topic but this is an excellent way to try out new ideas, get a robot too if you want competitive auctions.

As far as we could see, the only tangible benefit to playing this is invitational hands with 6 hearts - specifically those hands that are not strong enough to respond 2 initially.

Although the method works well with them, we found it very destructive to our normal constructive auctions. This is because the opener responds 2 with a large variety of hands that wishes to play in 2 when responder is only invitational, and then it proved difficult to uncover the real level of fit when responder was strong.

I'm sure the method is playable if you put a lot of work in. But the benefit seemed limited, so we now just play that 1-3 shows the invitational hand. Interestingly Lauria/Versace and Duboin/Sementa play 1-3 to show an invitational hand with 6.

Finally Bocchi-Duboin did play this method. Their convention card (PDF) has the first set of responses in the notes.

I used to play this; I wrote about it on my blog.

I like playing opener's rebids as:
2 = most minimums
2 = 6+ spades, minimum. (NB: Some hands with 6 spades might bid 2.)
2NT = 6+ spades, forcing to game
3 = artificial GF with heart support
others = as normal

After 2 or 2 (which are non-forcing) we just continue as in Acol.

This system wins big on invitational (or mildly-invitational) hands. When you have a GF you may wish you were playing 2/1, but sometimes you gain from the better description provided by opener's first rebid.

The downside, as I see it, is not being able to bid a natural 2. You have to either bid 2 with these (which causes difficulties when opener has hearts) or put them through an artificial 2 (which is playable but makes things fiendishly complicated).

We play 2 shows 5+H 10+ or 6+ 8+
- 2 waiting either 12-14 or 18+
- 2 misfit NF 6spades
- 2NT and up 15-17 natural (4 level are splinters)

over 2
- 2 game forcing artificial (2NT strong version, 3+ natural minimum)
- 2NT 5H NF semi blanced
- 3m 5H5m NF
-3 NF

we do bid 2 with D (GF exept 3D rebid). The heart fit finding is solved as follows. 3 by opener's partner shws hearts over 2 (12-14 or 18+) and 2NT (15-17 may be unbalanced with 4H)

this works well with 1NT semi forcing and Gazilli (2 over 2 shows either 5-9 with 5 hearts or 5-7 with 6)

I thank you all for your responses. I will look up on these things.

If someone has a module that is made when opener is limited that would be best of all. Nonetheless, a big thanks to you all.
