Maybe our co-workers are too dull, fellow bridge players are too old and uninterested, family members too "whatever" (for me far away).
Just how cynical are you that you participate, and then put it down? Does it then make your participation okay because you have declared yourself above it?
Don't take this seriously, I know you are young, and that usually explains everything.

Discourse, exchange and yes, even argument, helps to temper that trend and to serve as the door thru which we can pass to attain a new perspective.
That is what the internet is about, when used to our advantage.

As we evolve, we become more aware of the need to communicate and exchange accurately and productively. Being in the moment allows us to interact in a creative and effective manner.
Zoom out from your monitor for a second and imagine all of the people on the internet, typing in their comments on Youtube/Google/CNN etc etc. A horrendous cacaphony of much ado about nothing.
Each satisfies their need for contribution and exactitude while producing a result of....nothing. A waste of effort and of being. Only when the contact results in concrete action (your online bridge pard plays with you in person) can we progress to the next level of humanizing the electronic age.

The internet has brought the world to lots of people.
I am not talking about me, I am currently playing at the Nevada City Sectional.
See you at the bridge table.

That is why it is so important that the "connection" be more than just that. For those people can be enabled and empowered just as the rest that are not so hobbled can go even further.
Get to know and appreciate your virtual partner. Share what you can for that is a gain that both can enjoy and use for their mutual benefit.
