Joe Biden: "When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, "Look, here's what happened..."

Jesse Walker: "And if you owned an experimental TV set in 1929, you would have seen him. And you would have said to yourself, "Who IS that guy? What happened to President Hoover?"

That's funny. It would have been funny if any of the four would have said it, but I gotta think you would have heard it a lot more if it had been McCain (and, no doubt, "evidence" of his senility) or Palin (evidence of the ignorance no doubt caused by her lack of a higher education).

True, if Palin had said anything unscripted we would certainly hear about it a lot.

This is funny, too (because, of course, it has an element of truth to it).

Biden's always been prone to verbal gaffes. This was discussed quite extensively when folks were evaluating him as a potential choice for VP.

He's also a plagerist (this is one of the things that derailed his run at the White House a couple decades back)

On the other hand, he also delivers one hell of a stump speach. I was able to listen to thge speach that he delivered this morning during my lunch break. He did a beautiful job ripping McCain a new asshole...

be honest now, what would you have called palin (or mcclain) if either had said those idiotic things, or if either had been proved to be a plagiarist?

Comment 1: I was the one who introduced the comment "Biden is a plagiarist". I think that I can pretty safely say that "If Biden were proven to be a plagiarist, I'd call him a plagiarist"

Comment 2: Biden's comment about FDR, 1929, and TV was extremely dumb. I don't believe for a minute that

* Biden thinks that FDR was President in 1929
* Biden thinks that FDR gave televised speaches in 1929

I think that Biden's flip off the cuff comment was extremely ill chosen because it creates a distraction from more substantive matters.

I readily admit: I am cutting Biden some slack. I've never met the man, but I believe that he is well informed enough to know basic facts like when FDR was elected and when TV came on the scene.

I probably would extend the same courtesy to McCain. I think that McCain has a lot of flaws; however, I don't think he's an fool.

Palin on the other hand is a bible thumping idiot. I see absolutely no evidence that she has more than three brain cells to rub together. What is supposed to convince that she knows jack *****?

The number of schools of third tier schools she failed to graduate from?
Majors like "General studies" and Sports Journalism"?
The fact that she's a young earth creationist and a biblical literalist?

I'm waiting for the SNL skit based on the VP debate, where Palin makes more and more outrageous untrue claims about her and Joe Biden's respective records, while Biden insists repeatedly that he is not in fact Joe Biden and continually claims accomplishments from other well-known people's resumes.

Curious whether anyone else noted the dramatic difference the the roles played by Palin and Biden after last night's debate

Biden made the rounds on all the various news channels commenting about the debate.

Palin continues be locked away, safe and sound from anything resembling a spontaneous reaction. (Its not all that surprising... If weeks of cram sessions can't whip you into shape for slowball pitches from Katie Couric then the jig is pretty well up.

Interesting quote from Ed Schultz

Quote

Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people are more than concerned about Palin.

The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as “disastrous.” One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, “What are we going to do?” The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is “clueless.”

The Biden comment: apparently the gaffe was saying television rather than radio as otherwise it was true..FDR not as President but as governor of New York at the time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FDR
