Do you play that a support double shows extra ? or do you bid it with any minimum hand with 3 card fit ? im talking about a 1/2 level support double.

Most of players like to bid anything, if they only can ;) , so they do support dbl/rdbl with any hand. IMHO better way is to bid sd/rd if you really like to play 4-3 fit at this level.

I am one of the few people that play Support X and XX upto and including 3. But when we get that high, I tend to have a somewhat better hand then a minimum. But at 1 and 2 level it doesn't matter, min or max I will support. That is the idea behind it.

Maybe I'm missing something but surely the whole point of supp X andXX was to show 3 card support for partners suit? --- ESPECIALLY of only playing them up to the 2 level ;)

But do you always want to show three card support?

eg 5432 432 AK2 AQ2

After 1 (P) 1 (1) do you really think it is important to show 3 card support? Even 1 may be too high!

Yes.

Before the 1 bid we were committed to higher than 1 - now although RHO has given us the opportunity of getting out of the auction, the value of efficiently showing 3-card support is considered greater value by us.

My opinion is to show the 3 card support here. If partner have 5 card suit he will not bid again unless i'll double here, he might not even bid a 6 card suit b/c i can have 0-2 cards in the suit.

That's why we play weak NT ;)

About support Dbl: I play that until 2, double after all higher bids are take-out... Supp dbl for me is just a 3 card support, from minimum opening till maximum opener. partner won't pass, and then we can bid some forcing stuff to move on when we are strong.

I agree that weak NT and support X and XX really go good together.

No. I do not play support double/redouble show extra. It simply shows 3 card support, and must be made below the level of two of may partners suit.

Having said that, I really, really prefer not to play support redouble, and I am not wildly fond of support doulbe either. I prefer "takeout dbl" and either penalty oriented redbl, rosenkrantz redbouble, or transfer redbouble.
