          (4) no
(no) X (no) ?
Do you bid? If you do, is it 4NT and pass partner's 5m?

I wouldn't pass. Slam is a certainty, and we are in the ballpark for 7.

AQxx x A8xx Kxxx is a minimum TOx, and slam is cold. Add the Q and 7N is.

My plan is to start with 4N. Over 5m, I'll try 5, which hopefully gets 5. If pard started with diamonds, I'm bidding 7. If pard started with clubs, I think this is much tougher. If 5N is understood to be some kind of LTTC, then I'd try that. Otherwise, I will content myself with 6, although pard isn't barred from raising.

I realize that we may get some lousy breaks, but this is partially mitigated by pard playing it and taking away RHO's possible lightner x.

IMO 4N = 10, _P = 7.
In another thread, in a similar context, the consensus BBO view was that partner would automatically protect on a suitable 10-11 count. Admittedly the auction was subtly different because he had passed as dealer. You have a good hand but partner's double is predicated on you holding fair values. And bad breaks are to be expected, Hence, IMO, discretion dictates that you settle for a small slam unless partner shows enthusiasm.

Don't agree that Phil's example hand is a minimum t/o X, could certainly X with less here. Anyways, I would bid 4N planning on driving to slam also.
