I mean: how does a team who wishes to have all its matches broadcast on BridgeBase go about making that happen?

Day 1 was pretty good in my opinion. There will always be a few minor problems in the beginning, such as inexperienced operators, wrong team names, misspelling of player names, etc. In those areas I am convinced that Hervé will make sure that we deliver a better presentation very soon.

Unfortunately we had no matches from the youth events as promised, and the organizers did not manage to provide running scores and results. Also problems one can face when such a big event gets under way. I am sure it will be much better come Saturday/Sunday.

When the weekend is complete we will have offered commentary in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, Indonesian, Japanese and Chinese. Later we will most likely be able to add German, Polish, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.

Is there any way to get the Rounds as BBO-Movies?

The broadcast times are nearly impossible to catch here in Germany...

Round 8:
Italy v Romania
New Zealand v Norway
Bulgaria v Poland

Sunday we managed to show a match from the U28 event in the last two rounds. Hopefully we will be able to carry on with a youth match tomorrow. Which (if any) we can't tell in advance.

Nice of you to say, but I am afraid we can't take any credit for the great work that Yvan does at "The Vugraph Project". We enjoy an excellent relationship with Yvan, but he is not really associated with BBO in any way - he does this on his own.

I am hopeful that the time will come before too long that we can offer our own well-organized vugraph archive that users will be able to access through the web-based (Flash) BBO client. I have some ideas on things we could do with this data that I suspect our members will find interesting. For example, I think there is a good chance that we will (eventually) be creating a facility whereby people can play team matches using the hands from this future vugraph archive and IMP themselves against the results that were originally achieved.

In the mean time, I know I can speak on behalf of a lot of BBO members when I say how grateful we are all for the excellent service that Yvan provides.

Sorry - I managed to confuse myself in my last post.

It is Nikos Sarantakos who is responsible for The Vugraph Project web site.

Yvan Calame maintains the vugraph archive at the web site of the Swiss Bridge Federation.

They both deserve our thanks :)

So is Thursday a day off for Yom Kippur or is that coincidental?

Thursday is a day off for the players in Beijing (except those who are invited to play in the Individual). Friday is the last day of the Round-Robin with three rounds. We now have our schedule for the first two, the last to be decided after the organisers have had a look at the standings.

Open series unless stated.

Round 15:
France v Italy
Netherlands v Portugal
Turkey v Germany
China v Denmark (women)

Round 16:
Germany v England
Brazil v South Africa
New Zealand v Bulgaria
France v Sweden (seniors)

Round 17:
To be decided.

We now seem to have a regular schedule with one youth match per session. I expect that to continue Friday.

All we get in advance for tomorrow (Monday in Beijing) is the first segment. The organisers, understandably, want to have a look at the running scores before they decide regarding the last two sessions of the quarter-finals.

Our matches are:

QF4:
Poland v Italy
Germany v Netherlands
England v Romania
Germany v China (women)

The youngsters have reached the finals. I am sure we will get one for all sessions. To see the schedule, I suggest you take a look in Monday's youth bulletin at

http://www.worldbrid...8/Bulletins.htm

Session 1: Poland v Denmark (U-26). The rest to be decided.

Same as yesterday. All the organizers want to reveal at this point is our pairings for the first semi-final session Tuesday in Beijing. The rest to be announced online.

SF1/6:

USA v China (women)
USA v Egypt (seniors)

Our congratulations to Norway (U-28), Denmark (U-26) and France (U-21) on winning the gold medal in the youth events. Also well done to the silver medalists: Poland, Poland (again) and England.

Thursday in Beijing we will be showing all three finals, and the Open playoff match between Norway and Germany. At some point the last one may be replaced by a different bronze medal match, depending on scorelines.

Italy v England
China v England (women)
USA v Japan (seniors)
Norway v Germany (playoff)
