I respect all people who sacrifice their free time to do BBO better place to enjoy our beloved Bridge. Steve and Ece, despite problems, show must go on, if people like you, like me . You can't do anything without be with somebody in confrontation and this is the beauty of our world, else will be regress. Let leave to all people to decide result of our job, not to particular person, despite how important is he/she. If people don't like your way and your club, they will just leave it, something I didn't notice. If they do, you can give up of course, because will be clear that someting is not ok. But for now your club have a lot of friends and growing popularity and I can't see important reason to leave people who like you so much.

Your Junior Flight initiative MUST NOT flounder - those youngsters are the future of this game you both love so much . Fight for them.

I am (I hope) slowly growing a thick skin , in the BIL the detractors come and go (the hassle is they keep replicating or is that cloning - aargh!! )

I received a request from Ecepal and 2over1 to post the following message from them to their multitude of friends in the BridgeBase Online Forum Community. It is with heavy heart I do so, as this clearly is a statement of their depature from the BBO community. This is a great loss to us all.

I post the letter in its entirety, without edits. In doing so, I remind people of Uday's admonition and specficially the warning about acceptable content to be posted in this thread and warning against Flamebait. And as I do so, it is also with full knowledge that this letter skates very close to, and maybe over the edge of even my own request that the question of "why" they left should not become a topic for discussion in this public forum. However, I think ece and steve did not spell out specifically the details of their departure, and they made it clear that the final decision by them to leave was theirs and theirs alone (that is, no truth to rumor they were thrown out or forced out).

And finally, to Ece and Steve, one more plea (but not final) from me, please reconsider your decision.

Obviously I have already expressed privately that now I write public.
I have already post participation on forum of Italians, and here I would want not only to ask to Ece, that I estimate very much, to rethink to the taken decision, but I would want that all we considered that the good people is leaving BBO, while is given highly of the powers to that it arrives only thinking next to their succeeded one and their power, to which dont gives a damn of the others. Sure this was not the aim of persons like Booze that not want being more yellow, and today Ecepal even leaves BBO. Perhaps it will be the case to see again some things you do not believe?

I am new to the BBO world and I have only barely met yall. I have play in your tourney. I have respect for anybody that take their free time to make something they love better. But, it is obvious from the wonderful letters or post...That you will be missed...

had some disturbing news from other friends, tds as well , so most use my words here very carefully , if anyone knows what is needed for Ece/Steve to return, why not give this small offer and see this as donating to bbo communinty. WE all know the above lyrics and for some time bbo was like that, dont let it slip in to something nobody wants , bbo must stand for relaxation, enjoyement, bounding, meeting, learning, competing, laughing

Two obviously popular members ece and steve have decided to quit. Being a relatively junior member (and TD) of BBO i had no occasion to interact with ece. But Steve, i have talked with him only twice. First time when he volunteered to help me in my tourney and second time when i greeted him in the lobby. The way he showed me how to run a tourny without actually telling me put him up several notches in my esteem for him.
BBO is a movement where differences of opinions are bound to be there.
I wish these two well liked members rise above everything and review their decision in the larger interests of the game.

I have translated in English which I have written on the Italian forum this morning:

This is the only forum where I can express my sorrow regarding ecepal left
BBO. Booze gave up on being yellow, and now with this news of Ecepal I don't
think that BBO is improving. I come from Booze's school and ecepal was
always close to me whenever I needed her. Nowadays in BBO I feel manipulated
from people that wants to rule and not to help, what it should have to be a
free site isn't anymore for me. I'll not go away from BBO because I love
this site and I have a great esteem of Fred, Uday, Vincenzo a lot of yellows
and a lot people more but I don't want to be manipulated by people that
don't help because they only want power. As for now I resign from TDs. I see
myself only as TD first as a BBO's one and then of BBO_ITA's one and I don't
want any pressure apart if these come from Fred, Uday, Vincenzo and other
person I esteem, like Booze and Ecepal.

I would really appreciate if this writing would be posted on yellow's forum,

although I have rarely had the chance to interact with Ece and Steve, our paths had crossed over my time here in BBO mainly through their involvement in the BIL lounge.

I as I think most of the members of our small community are really sad to hear that recent events have led to two influential members to decide to depart.

I respect their decision to do so. Their move has risen a sense of communal spirit within the BBO. Ece and Steve you are not alone!
We the ones that stay have a duty to fight injustice and abuse and help preserve the spirit of fair game, sportsmanship.

As I noted in an earlier post, I am having a highly annoying day at work and probably should not be posting. With this said and done...

(1) I will certainly miss Steve and Ece and would prefer that this wasn't all going on.

(2) While I am privy to some of the background information, for the life of me I can't understand why Topflight is discussing shutting down.

(Edited by inquiry.. richard you know better... :-) As an aside, I think topflight lives on with steve's blessing.. just without his direction.

I've long advocated private clubs as a mechanism to reduce the drain on "central" resources. Better to have private individuals worry about all of this stuff rather than forcing Fred and Uday to step in.

Sadly, the private clubs seem to be having the opposite effect. Some of the clubs are gathering momentum. When these organizations start to experience problems it amplifies the resulting chaos.

To some extent, I think that Fred and Uday may have made a mistake in stepping in.

Better to establish a precedent that people need to learn to work and play well together. While it may be painful to watch from the outside, its far uglier if you let yourself get drawn in...

Welcome to the BridgeBase Forum, I am sorry it took such a situation to get you to come over to this site.

Farie is not alone in new people to the site now. I will say that today, we have blown past the all time record for most people on line at same time, I think this shows the interest and concern people have in this specific topic. This is clearly a hot button issue and deserves the attention it is getting.

I will note something else, I have been a moderator for what, a year or there abouts. And I have edited/deleted more than twice as many post in the last 24 hours than I have in the entire time I have served in this role. Most of these censorship actions I have had to take against my friends who were trying the best they could to support my very good friends. So it has not been easy on me. Add to that, I have recieved angry messages about the editing and message deletions... and how it is the worse kind of censorship. Well, tough luck. Until someone takes away my ability to edit hateful, harmful, or inflammatory post, until they stop me physically from removing post meant to humiliate people, I will continue to do so. Anyone else would like my job, write one of the big bosses and convince them that you can do better than me.

In the meanwhile, I will start issuing official warnings (WARN LEVELS) to anyone else posting inflammatory or harmful post here. Again, feel free to ask steve and ece to reconsider. But I am tired of having to check here every few minutes...
