I'd probably open this 2♥. (In fourth.)

I'm going nowhere but hearts.

The Zar bean-counter would open this (27 Zar), but I'm playing with the field and passing this one. Especially since we play a strong club system, and thus partner opens light.

I'm taking out insurance and passing.

surely it's bad tactics to pass against bunnies. even the worst players can count upto 11 for an opening bid (or 12/13 as seems to be required in america). to give them an opportunity to do some carving you need to prolong the board, though i suspect that if i was being paid to play in this event the only thing i would be prolonging would be my trips to the bar.

Seems like a normal min opener to me. I don't really know what you're worried about. Sure opps could find a spade partial or even game - but then there are hands that partner would have passed that produce a heart game for us - and - in any case - this hand is not defenceless if they do outbid us in spades.

Clear pass. Falls 2 below the Casino count of 15. (And no, it is not "Cansino" count, despite the fact that Cansino and Pearson both espoused this independently.)

I thougt it was close but passed. Pard had a 4=3=3=3 LR with ♠KQJx so te hands meshed well. Opps were +170 so we lost 5 which was essentially a swiss match.

There are 29 HCP's out there with the other 3 payer.
This means that our side has more than 20 HCP most of the times, 20 HCP at least often and seldom 19 HCP.

On the long run, Pass is a bad choice.
In a "long" match against very weak opponents I would pass, I 'll win on saver (better known) grounds.
Otherwise I think, that this is a typical 2♥ opener in 4th seat.
Usually this will be enough to preempt opps and usually we are in a makable contract.

Well, you can call it "casino" if you want. I saw it called "cansino" like over 3 decades ago.

I ran this hand opposite 20 random less than 12 HCP hands and also no 10/11s with good controls/distrib - i.e. the other 3 hands are not openers. 13 of them were +ve par results for a total of about +2840. Admittedly one of them was a DD 6H contract that would have neither been bid nor probably played that way, but even allowing for that it looks to me that, on average. you're throwing away points by passing this one.

Pass. 1♥ will probably be a Left hand transfer to 1♠.

Pass here i guess its closer than i think. At MP ill probably open but at imps the proplem is that when they play in 2S im losing 3 or 4 when they make but win 1 when they go down 1.

1:3 are bad odds. In general a spade is worth more then 1 point. Im 1hcp over but 1.33 spades under average. But i have 98 of H but no Ts

What did partner have? Most limit raises with KQJx in spades would be opened by my partner.

This is a style matter, and I can't get too excited about it. My partners tend to open aggressively and, indeed, I often play 10-12 or 11-14 1N in 1st and 2nd white, and partner's pass would predispose me to passing this out. I suspect that the fact that this weak nt style has been my style in serious partnerships for 10+ years makes me lean towards passing. Certainly, if partner is a 'sound' opener, there is more reason to bid.. 1♥.

I just don't understand why anyone would choose 2♥.. it really isn't bridge... it's solitaire.
