If a mechanism is already there, then I apologise for taking up your time.

I would like a way (preferably of the one-click variety!) to download to an empty, prepared subdirectory of my local hard drive the complete hand records of a specified tourney, including traveller and movie for each hand at each table.

The only reason being to protect against main server crashes that wipe the records as occurred recently.

I have "webcopier" for ripping web pages but cannot readily see how to configure it for this purpose.

This would be an excelllent feature for those of us who like go see what actually happened in a tournment. No such feature exist, but some memberrs here are cool programmers. The problem would be identifying which hand records are "tournments" and which are normal open room games I guess. Anyone up to the challenge?

Hand records would have to be modified to include where the hand was played, I think.

After the fact would be too much more difficult.

There is an undocumented way to show the results of a tourney.
Someday, when i am idle, i will update the myhands website.

When you look at older tournament results using the link from myhands, you see one line per tourney. These lines are the leaderboards for each tourney.

http://bbo.bridgebas...tourneyresults/

A typical line from that page looks like this

Sun_16:15_GMT_Teams_IMP_Host:serginoit_Title:#338_Teams_sergio__duplo_domenica__~1~1083514549~338.lin

Look at the end of this line: 1083514549~338.lin

If you go into www.bridgebase.com/myhands and look up "user"

338-1083514549-

You will see the boards for the tourney, listed by board number. Clicking on a Bd shows you all the results for that board.

I know this is awkward, but there it is. I really don't know why i have never written a proper "Tournament results" webpage or updated "Myhands". Someday

Thanks Uday
That seems to work, except:

I get an error message when I click on a traveller link:

"A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to debug?
Line 14
Error: 'document.myhands.tzoffset' is null or not an object
<Yes>/<No>"

Clicking on No seems to allow you to continue without any obvious problems.

Jack, when you enter a name/tourney id, the tzoffset is passed along.
Please observe the URL of the new page, has it "tzoffset=nnnn" somewhere?

Maybe you have Javascript disabled?

Gerardo

Here is an example of a page I am looking at immediately before I click on a traveller and get the error message.

http://online.bridgebase.com/cgi-bin/history.pl?...a=Fetch+results

It appeaers abbreviated when posted, but contains the narrative
"tzoffset=25200"

I do not have Javascript disabled, but the Internet options are vast and I do not understand them. I also have Zonealarm that could be interfering. If anyone wants to help me with this we should take it off-forum. Looks like it is specific to me.

In any case the error message is only a minor irritation since, as I said, clicking on "no" at the debug option allows me to continue to browse the results.

Hi, Ben.

I sent to your e-mail address at UTC 09:54 a program in Delphi which automates download of all lin files of a tourney. I hope you will get it.

User only has to download and save somewhere on his hard disk the tourneyresult lin page from
http://bbo.bridgebas...tourneyresults/

He gets, for instance :
Sat_21_32_GMT_Pairs_IMP_Host_topflight_Title_#321_Pairs_TOPFLIGHT_SATURDAY!__~1~1083447141~321.lin

Then he selects that page with the 'Select Tourney' button of the program.

I could have chosen an alternative : instead of downloading the tourneyresult page, I could have asked the user for the tourney reference
(for instance 321-1083447141) but that seems to me a source of errors.

Jack:
Thanks! It should be corrected now (and those hands should show when they were played in your local time, bit pointless here, as the day is missing).

Thanks Gerardo, I confirm that it works without error message now.

Now all I have to do is work out what options to set in Webcopier so I get what I want (and no more!) when downloading the results of a tourney.
