Context: ACBL regional and national events

Does anyone know under what circumstances we can refer to our own printed defences to opponents conventions? I'm thinking of a custom multi defence, but perhaps there is a general principle.

I think the rule is that if the bid requires a suggested defense (i.e. many midchart methods) then you can refer to your own written defense instead of the ACBL defense if you so desire.

It seems you may use your defense to midchart methods (presumably this means non-gcc methods) during the auction:
