HI,

1NT - (3x) - ??

Any systems in play here? If not and 3-level bids are natural should they be dropping? Invitational? Forcing? Double is penalty, right?

Thanks,
Bill

3-level bids forcing, double negative.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Hi,

New suits are forcing.

X, some play it as penalty, some as t/o, t/o will
have a higher frequency.
And of course opener will quite often pass the t/o,
since the t/o will be often made with bal. hand.

With kind regards
Marlowe

either pass or bid game! obviously you must choose forcing or not forcing, and lose badly when the other comes up. forcing hands are more frequent and more important.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

If the "x" is , I like:

X = Puppet Stayman
3/3 = transfers
3 = 5/4
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

Standard is that new suits are forcing, double is takeout oriented. With a penalty double, either bid 3NT or pass and hope partner can reopen with a takeout double.
