I've come across contrasting styles but what do people think about doubling 4[H] openings on

No pips...you are at favourable (4H was first in)...would it make any difference if the vun were equal or if you had 4 spades?



What if partner protects with a double, you bid 4NT prob...do you give it a 6th?

• Over 4♥, _P = 10, _X = 7.
  A vulnerable double would be even more courageous. It does depend on partnership style but our agreement is that
  • Immediate actions should be sound and
    
  • Double should promise primary ♠ support or sufficient values to cope with a ♠ response.
  
  
• If partner _Xs 4♥ then 4♠ = 10, 4N = 9, 5C = 8
  You would be brave to raise to six because partner may balance in the hope that you hold something like what you've got.

Yes, I'd bid with this hand as advancer. Partner has made a takeout double, and I have nine cards in his suits and plenty of high cards. There's even a case for making a slam try by bidding 4NT (ostensibly the minors) and converting 5♣ to 5♦.
