Any particular reason there is a distinction between Money Bridge $ and Bridgebase $'s?

Why not one account?

Disclaimer.. i don't speak for BBO on this issue.

My understanding is the difference is the fee's the credit card companies and maybe paypal charges the BBO. If you purchase BB$, all the money you spend goes to the BBO except for the fees the credit card companies keep. So they get the lion's share to provide you with tournaments.

If you purchase MB$, none of the money (well the small percentage taken in each hand) goes to bbo.

In the first case, the BBO is willing to absorb the fee's in the second, they are not. At least that is my udnerstanding.

Isn't it true that you can no longer puchase MB$, BB$ is now used for everything? MB$ is just a leftover from earlier, when the issue Ben refers to existed.

If you run out of BB$, BBO will start drawing from the MB$ account. So why not merge them now?

MB$ are used in only one place --- "money bridge" -- where you can win & lose real money. You can purchase MB$ inside the Money Bridge rooms.

BB$ are used everywhere else.

The main difference is that bb$ are like prepaid card fees. Not refundable, etc etc . MB$ are still yours, and can be withdrawn.

Ben is correct that we do absorb the transaction fees for BB$ but not for MB$.

Some of this is leftover from the old days. The main value of the second currency is that it clearly separates the card fees from the "money", as it were, so we can treat them differently when it comes to accounting, etc.

When I play MBT it withdraws the payment from my BB$ account, even though I have a couple of bucks in my MB$ account.

MB$ are reserved for Money Bridge games with one exception: if you play in an MBT ( maybe in a normal tourney also) and are out of BB$, MB$ are converted to BB$ rather than denying entry to the Tourney.

This is what prompted the question. My BB$ account is low but my MB$ is OK, and a magical transfer happened.

So MB$ are normally used for one-on-one Money Bridge, but not for MBT, unless you're out of BB$?

I've never played Money Bridge, only MBT.
