Oops I meant to say 2♣ not "Other" - getting sleepy (I was thinking 2♠ but that should show a control or a real suit depending on your methods).

3NT?? You don't have a spade stopper, if you want to be in 3NT you've just wrong-sided the contract.... 2♣ --> 3♦ for me.

in theory the suit you need to stop on this sequence is clubs, the suit partner denied. This is at least true for 1NT overcalls, 3NT might be another story, but it is reasonable.

This problem is a reason that I was convinced by a great partner of mine to switch tactics. It seems to be quite effective to have a two-way cuebid structure (2♣ with heart focus, 2♠ with diamond focus), handling all spade-based hands through the double. Not only does this avert some damage from preemption, but it sets the tone of the auction in the right direction immediately.
