To exchange with others what we know and feel so that we can refine our understanding and improve our relationships with those that choose to respond.

When I start a new topic I want to learn. When responding, I'm just sharing my opinion. I have a blog for 'teaching purposes' and I can pass my time way better than posting on the forums :)

I think most people post just to try to impress me.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

This appears to be a sensible explanation for you posting on this topic. I imagine some similar explanations apply in most cases.

I post because it's a good sounding board for ideas, and because I think my own ideas, while not always correct, are generally sound enough that I can make a good sounding board for others. It's also a nice way to connect with people my age in the bridge community (the forums definitely trend younger than the club games I play in).

I like the interaction... the exchange of viewpoints. We have some very talented people on this forum, and from various bridge cultures... which broadens my understanding and appreciation of the game. Also, I suspect that I am a frustrated teacher.. had I not sort of fallen into law school, which I attended because I was in my last year of engineering when I realized that I didn't like engineering at all, I might have become a teacher or lecturer :)

So I enjoy helping others grow in their enjoyment of the game, to the limited extent that I can.. it is a form of giving back to the game that has been a very important part of my life.

I enjoy everyone here....even the people I seem to always be criticizing... any forum where everyone agreed with a few 'gurus' would quickly become boring.
