5♥. I hope partner can take a joke.
Really, though, 5♥ will be making opposite slightly more than 2 aces. If it does go down 500, the opps probably make 4♠, so the loss is not great.
I can't afford to pass here and find out later that both sides make game in their long suits.

Five hearts.
I picture the opponents with maybe seven/eight spade tricks and a some diamonds.

I hate to bid 5♥, but I hate to pass and be stolen blind even more. Sigh... 5♥. Sadly, if partner has the two aces I need to make, odds are he will bid 6♥ and I end up going down. Such is the risk we take.
A question is would 4NT and then pull even 5♣to 5♥ be less encouraging than a direct 5♥? I think it should be, so maybe that would be better approach.

Is there really anyone who doesn't bid 5♥ with this?
Partner really has to rein himself in on this auction... we are under enormous pressure, so he needs one heck of a hand to bump us.... admittedly, he may have a heck of a hand and still not have enough... and of course there is the trifling problem that it may be rho who has the heck of a hand... 1100 is not out of the question, but only a mouse would pass.
Yes, we have two ways to lose by bidding, and one of them could be a LARGE number of imps, but we have several ways to win as well, and some of those are at least as large (double game swing, anyone?)

No, but there are plenty of people who forget what they themselves would bid 5♥ with when they raise to 6♥ from the other side on inadequate hands.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Me
That's why I polled it because I wasn't sure.
