Hmmm...actually, I'll go 2NT, unless I think partner would interpret 3 as only 3+ support. I'm not going to pass with a 12 count, and I'm certainly not going to X or bid 3. The other choice is 3, and I feel I'm a hair too weak for that.

3, if you are going to force to game then I don't see why not. The only other choice that merits consideration is double of course.

Edit: I miscounted the hand, I don't want to force to game. Double it is.

Before you miscounted...you don't play a 3 bid here as asking for heart stops?

(I play X as promising 4 spades. I can't say it's good, but it's what I play).

Bidding 3NT with hearts stopped is certainly high on that list.

3D, agree with jdonn that it's not really worth a GF but I'm not willing to X and then pass my partner's bid so I would effectively be GFing anyways. This way at least I don't mislead pard about my spades.
