Scoring: IMP

4H-P

Low club lead - RHO cashes AK clubs and leads a third club LHO playing the Q.

Play on?

This looks too easy, so I must be missing something.

Ruff the club and then play the diamond Ace.
Spade to the Ace, and ruff a diamond.
Spade ruff, ruff a diamond.
Spade ruff high, ruff a diamond.
Spade ruff low.

I take two side Aces, four ruffs in dummy, my K of trumps, one low trump in hand, and I have a tenace position with my remaining Q65 with the 9 and 8 outstanding. When my 5 is over-ruffed, I cannot help but get my Q6. I need LHO to have two spades OR one spade without the 8 or 9 of trumps.

Well done Ken.

I thought it was interesting as a lot of good players got this wrong, maybe I should have put it in the Beginner and Intermediate :).

Actually, this is a frequent blind spot that lingers into higher play for some reason.
