I find myself bidding three-card suits a lot, in a 2/1 GF structure, and my main partner seems relieved to finally "come out" as to this practice.

I think of common examples:

2 to establish a GF
1 with 3145 pattern and weak when partner opens 1
1 after a 1 opening, for any number of obscure reasons
1-1-1 as a convenient rebid with 3145 pattern
Opeer's rebid of 2 after 2 GF
...and so on.

I think this started for me with playing canape, especially the well-known examples when responding. It reminded me of the frequent creep into 1 openings with a good 5-card major and a good three-card diamond fragment, junk otherwise.

So, any confessions here?

After partner opens 1 catchall 0+, bidding 1M on a 13(45) type pattern without enough to respond at the 2 level

1S-2C-2X-3S in standard as well for a limit 3 card raise on a 3-4-3-3 shape

After a 1 opening bidding 1 on a 3-3-3-4 shape, wanting partner to bid 1NT

Not unless I am playing systemic canape which we did with Caroline Club. Otherwise I prefer Bridge, not guessing games - "Does he have it? Maybe, maybe not. Who knows, who cares?

Not even third seat? I mean, what else makes sense with something like AKQ x xxxx K10xxx?
