This hand involved some bloopering at our table that I'm not planning to post about but it was still an interesting hand. We were red against white in a team game, righty dealt and the auction was:

pass - pass - 1S - Dbl
4S - ??

What's your call? Your next call might also be interesting but let me wait with that.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Double. Hard to imagine that my next call after this would cause me any difficulty at all - if partner bids, I will raise - but I will let you wait with that.

Agree with double. What else can we do that isn't a wild guess?
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

What do people play 4NT as here?

If I double now what would 4NT from partner mean?

I would have thought I needed most of what I have got to double. Not sure what the extras are to bid on to six.

Two places to play, in either case.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Maybe the next rounds are not interesting but let me give them to you.

Partner pulls to 5D, would you really raise this David or did I miss a joke?

If you pass, LHO will balance with 5 which is passed around to you.

I had bid 4 NT first round, quite confident to show two places to play.

What did partner show by X followed by 5 Diamond?
Surely not a nice 6 card suit, so my hopes are around x, Kxxx,AQxxx,KQx?
But hadn't he passed my double with this?

So I like Davids idea to bid one more, because pd may have a bigger hand then this.

I think it had been right to raise Diamonds, so I follow Davids advice and double 6 Spade if they bid it.
Kind Regards

Roland
