This came up today in a morning match. Partner opens 1, Blue Team Club + Benito's 1M-3m Roman Jump Raises, your bid?

Scoring: MP

2 seems best to me as well (Especially given that Better Bidding with Bergen discusses a mildly constructive single raise structure)

I'm shocked to see votes for 3m... Distorting your hand and promising a missing 4th trump seems questionable at the best of times. Doing so with 3=3=4=3 seems especially bizzarre.

I would show this as a 4-card limit raise. I do actually have a fourth trump, hrothgar.

If partner opens on random balanced 11-counts with no aces I would bid 2S.

Why would I bid 2? I have a 15 count.

I think 2 is enough despite the fact that I have 1. If it's a joker and I can put it where I like, I will let it be a spade and treat it as limit.

I assume you count 1 as an ace, fair enough.

me too. what happened to my 4th spade?

how come it had 4 spades when whereagles posted and when I posted, but not (I assume) when hrothgar posted in the middle... and now it doesn.t

Now I bid 2S

Couldn't find any bidding theory for this kind of 15-counts with four trumps including a joker which turns out to be a club. So I abstain.

When I posted this morning the hand was (approximately)

I recall 3=3=4=3 shape, an 11 count, and 9 losers

Well, right now it shows 4 trumps again.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Or then again, maybe not.

Sounds like a vote with dubious value - we've got enough polling irregularities around here to be an honorary district of Florida!

I am enjoying this thread greatly so far. Maybe "Non-Natural" in the forum title refers to the vortex of the universe in which this ever-changing hand with imaginary cards exists.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.
