Your bid? What is your plan (or are you just hoping to get through this round of hte bidding)?

I pass for now. plan on bidding spades later. For me, at least, bidding 2♠ shows a better suit and redoubling would show a worse hand. So that leaves me with just passing for now and competing later (where partner will understand that we don't have a good suit when we do).

My usual weirdness...

I have 3 clubs and a singleton diamond. If partner wants to play 2♣XX I'm happy with it.

I'll just pass, and bid spades later if partner doesn't XX. If LHO bids lots of clubs, and partner doubles, I will pass. If he passes, I will bid spades.

2S, seems like a good idea to show my 7-card suit before we get bumped.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I like pass then bid spades. If it's below 4♠ next round I can bid them. If it's above that then I'm glad I didn't give partner a false impression, and I can judge what to do next. Of course if we don't have agreements then that could be tough to decide, I admit.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I'm gonna bid 2♠. Pard may be short in clubs, in which case he'll start bidding the reds as if there was no tomorrow. I have to start telling him I don't like red suits, period.

This hand was rather amusing. At the table, I bid 2♠. Partner assumed that I had to have a suit with 2 of the top three honors to bid 2♠ freely - the same requirement that we have for a positive response in a suit without interference. Then, despite the fact that I denied holding 2 key cards, he continued to assume that I had the AK of spades (he had the Q) and bid a slam. We were off two aces, with the result being -200 in 6♠x.

This was worth about 76% of the matchpoints, as the opponents were cold for 6♦ or 6♣!

Here is the full hand to the best of my recollection:

Scoring: XIMP

Personally, I don't like my partner's 2♣ opening. But one should not argue with success!

I like bidding on the most common hands that have some trick taking potential - which is a few scattered values and a long suit.

That is what I have so 2♠ it is.

When they bid over your 2C opener requirements for bidding a new suit go way down. This is because it's become far more likely that LHO is going to jam you and you need to get your suits in. I would def bid 2S with this hand.

Bidding 2 spades gives up on rightsiding the contract, its a clear pass IMO.

That is an argument for playing transfer responses rather than for passing, IMHO.

I'd pass and I would not have opened 2C with partner's hand either.
