Missing QJxx again

West (Expert) leads ♣A asking for count. East plays ♣4=Even.
West continues ♠Q and East contributes ♠3.
What now?

(I borrowed the Topic title, but notice the important differences: in that board, the trump lead was in trick 1 and it was the J not the Q of trump).

Expert or not, he is giving up the (small) chance of making his stiff ♠Q by playing it.

This means that he should then have ♠QJ

But then if he had ♠QJ he would had led the ♠J instead of the queen, because then I won't have the inference of the stiff queen....

I am not good at mind games, hope Justin solves this one, I cannot. What did the odds say?, fnese? that's what I do.

he knows we're good so he wouldn't play from QJ tight, since he knows that he's making a trump trick with that and that maybe his weird play will make some people change their mind (whereas if he doesn't play them now he knows we'll RC it). so he has the stiff Q and was trying to confuse us.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

At slam level it is best to ask count with King, and attitude with Ace (partner can have the King).

When dummy has singleton I doubt any of the former still apply.

I'm not sure why you should let LHO talk you out of a normal play.

He should always make QJ dub and we should always make QJ tight.

I don't see any gamesmanship here and I think this position is a lot different than what Justin posted a few months ago.

I agree with gwnn; I think the expert is attempting to find the one way to set the contract: via confusion.
