OK were sitting in 5th. Our 45 percent game tonight was really a 60. A bunch of mundane hands that should be 50 -55 percent boards were 75 percent. Hooray.

1. A9 7532 65 AT652 1S - 2S - 3D (hsgt) - 4S. Ur lead?

2. KQJTxx Qxx Qx KQ strong NT on right - all vul - ur call?

3. w/r Q32 QJT76 52 KJ2 1D pass 1S pass 1N pass pass ?

1. diamond, that's where declarer allegedly is lacking the values.
2. lead the spade king after opps bid undisturbed to 3NT.
3. pass, what are the alternatives?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

1) Heart or spade seems fairly logical. A heart is a little too passive for me, so I'd probably slam down the A to have a look.
2) Pass. Will bid 2 over a heart transfer.
3) Pass. I don't have any real problem defending 1N when they are vul, and I don't mind a club lead at all. I also suspect that 2 is a better contract for them than 1NT if they have a 4-3 spade fit.

1) Either red suit, but diamond looks more appealing.
2) 2S. They may not be getting to 3NT nor transferring to H - could even be transferring to a minor and I ain't coming back at the 3 level so I bid 2S now. Although taking off 1NT 2 tricks is appealing but it may not be off 2
3) hmm think I'm going to go for 2H.

Diamond, pass, 2.

1. A, hoping to give partner a ruff. May not cost anyway even if this isn't happening.
2. Pass, I really don't see how this can go badly, I prefer to defend NT than declare at all red. I will bid 2 if they xfer to . Would bid 2 directly if either side was NV.
3. Pass.

1) I'd lead A and another . Maybe I just blew a trick. Maybe I'm setting the contract 2 now instead of 1.
2) Tempted to whack them but I'm getting thrown in in clubs. Pass
3) Pass

1. I led the A for no particular reason. In hindsight, it probably isn't a good lead. I thought I might catch pard with a stiff or xx. I caught pard with KQJx. As long as you lead a club or shift when you win the trump, you'll hold declarer to 4. Dummy has QJ98x of hearts and declarer AK.

2. I bid 2 since it was a qualifying session and I figured thats what the other idiots would do. This violates a lot of my personal principles and passing would have worked a lot better. Pard has xx KTxx J9xx Jxx and they led the heart for -1.

Why is it whenever I try to make the 'field' bid, I get burned?

3. I bid a very sick 2. This was not a success when pard forgot to overcall on Jxx void KQxx A9xxxx. RHO passed 1N with 5-4 in the majors and a dog.

1. A, aiming for pard's ruff. I only make such a stupid lead once every 5 years. This is it.. lol.

2. 2 gogoo

3. Pass. I'm ok with any lead pard makes, except diamonds, but he's not gonna lead that :)

EDIT: just saw the "solutions". 1 is lol. 2 is ugh... 3 is shoot pard for not barking 2
