Does anyone using Fred's 2/1 GF agreements have any further agreements in this situation:

1♠ - 2NT
3♣ - ?

We have found it worthwhile to play the "Danish inverted fit" like in 1NT - 2♥ - 2♠ - 3♣, i.e.

3♠ shows ♣ fit
4♣ shows ♠ fit

any more natural way to support ♣ without giving up 3NT?

I have always played that in this sort of auction 3♠ agrees spades, and 3-red is a cuebid agreeing clubs. Normally opener won't introduce clubs unless either:

(1) He has slam interest if a fit materializes in that suit.
(2) He is concerned that 3NT may be poor if responder is weak in one of the red suits.

So if we bypass 3NT because responder has a club fit and no red suit control, we may be better off out of 3NT in any case.

Obviously things are a bit more cramped after 1♠-2NT-3♦.
