On numerous occasions the Giblets will transfer to a 4 card major or stayman with a weak 5 card major....it is getting so that I am afraid to open 1NT ..... (my favorite opening bid..lol)

Wtf is up with their bidding program opposite a 1NT opener?

They take 100 (or so) random 1NT openers, and see what the best bid would be for the most hands.

I think it's insane...it doesn't even give reliable but wrong results.

My problem with GIB is that whenever I balance, the auction will proceed in some bizarre fashion - usually by my GIB partner.

I've also seen it bid Stayman, and then go back to NT even though we found a major suit fit.

Just rented GIB this month. It opened 1 and rebid 1 on 5=4=1=3 distribution (an ordinary 12 HCP). Doesn't seem to be any partnership aspect to the bidding at all.

NORTH - GIB
SOUTH - ME

Robot Race Tourney

As Dealer GIB opened 1D (!) with the North hand. RHO doubled, I passed and so did West. GIB now bid 1H. We ended up in a terrible diamond contract doubled (West had a stack) going 4 down. I must admit I contributed a little to the disaster by putting GIB back to diamond.

But - Is that an OPENING HAND as dealer?
Why 1D? Is GIB treating this as 4-4-3-2 ?

After the deal, I see scores of 400+ to some of the other participants.
Now I am puzzled. Did GIB do it only to me?!! Something about my computer it didnt like???

If you were playing a robot race you cannot compare to other participants. In a robot race you each get random hands to play.

The more you play with them, the easier it gets to "understand" what they are up to...predicting it is a little more problematic.

Avoiding the 3-3 fits and bidding 3NT when you "hope" that GIB has a stopper even tho it refuses to bid NT......(it often can and does....)

A "routine" bid ???

GIB was NORTH. ROBOT RACE TOURNEY.

I opened 1N (decided to upgrade my hand). GIB asked 2C, I bid 2H. GIB now bids 3H! Alert blurb is "Invite --- 4+ hearts; 9 points".

How can one like the experience of playing with these bots if these routine bids are not clearly defined?

Manoj.
