1. Hate 1♠. 5-6 blacks are the easiest 5-6 to bid out.
2. Don't like 4♠, but not as much as I hate 1♠.

Some joker left the heart suit out of this deck.

Since I have advertised ♠KJxxxx ♥AQx ♦Ax ♣Ax with my previous bidding, I'm really at a total loss on what pard is bidding 5 over 5 on.

I hate to guess, but more importantly, I hate for pard to have to guess.

I think you might bid 4♠ on a whole lot less than that with more distribution.

I open 1♣ on 5-6 hands even when my hand is a POS where bidding spades later gives the wrong impression. So I'm definitely opening 1♣ here.

To say opening 1S is wrong is a big call. Many experts play this style, eg the Washington Standard acolytes. The Poles play it as well, as well as all the other Polish C. players. (Granted they do it for systemic reasons.) Obviously Fluffy plays it this way too. I certainly would not bid 4S on the hand had I opened 1C and 4H came back to me opposite a pd who passes. I think thats asking for trouble. No argument I have read here so far has persauded me that 1S is wrong. Both openings have their advs and disadvs, I feel that the 1S opening has fewer disadvantages.

My point was about the fact that anyone can invent any convention and then invent a bidding sequence where it works, and it probes nothing.

But Ken will always be the best inventing I guess

One of the things I love from those who open 1♣ is that they will then have obvious rebids of 3/4♠, but it doesn't matter if they have 6 losers or only 2, they have their call.
