Scoring: MP

1 - (P) - 1 - (P)
?

1. What now?

2. Suppose you bid 2 (if you don't like it, you can pretend you subbed). Partner bids 3. (You can presume 2NT would be leb-like.) What now?

3. Do you think your assumptions are standard?

1 or 2 come to mind. 3 doesn't really do the hand justice. i guess 2 is close to being the least of all evils.

i think i have to 4 over 3. This ought to be a heart cue, and i have a damn good hand for hearts ;)

This is a strong 2, the sort of hand systems usually can't handle properly. I'll assume the "hole" in the system and pretend I have only 15-17 and try 3.

I really hate inventing suits... I'd sooner open 2 than rebid 2 over 1.

IF I bid it will be at the one level so when partner bids 2 I can splinter 4. It is an ugly hand in anything that isn't a relay system.

2N as leb-like is certainly not standard since the situation is GF.

I would not have this problem playing T-Walsh, but if my opening suit had been diamonds I would rebid 2NT with regular p, but 1 if with a pick-up.

I'd prefer to be playing 1C-1H-1S as forcing, and 1C-1H-2S as artificial and including 6-3 raises.

Playing standard methods:

1. I'd bid 2S. 1C-1H-2S-3S-4H should show this type.

2. Over 3H, I'd bid 4D. As this is my only forcing way to agree hearts, it's fairly vague about the nature of the diamond control. Unlike in some similar auctions, it does promise a diamond control of some sort - with a very good 4=2=2=5 without a diamond control, I could bid 5H.

3. Yes.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Over 3 use blackwood and blast 7 or 6.

I would had rather bid 2NT than 2.

1. 2S.

2. 4D, jdonn's rule.

3. I don't understand the question.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

The nice thing about being a mathematician is that you don't have to worry about other people thinking your assumptions are non-standard :P

I have no idea what assumptions we are talking about. It is clear to anybody who has ever read the watercooler that there is no such thing as standard assumptions anyway, but let's not get into a religuous discussion here.

The assumption was that 2N is leb-like after opener's jump shift. Sorry if sounding religious but IMHO it is standard for 2N not to be lebensohl here.

Surely the perfect hand in favor of 1m----1H-----1S forcing. Otherwise there is np with 2S and 4D (showing shortness of course). Partner will assume a H fit unless you correct to 4S over 4H

I was of course referring to Josh's: when three suits have been bid naturally and no fit has been established, a bid of the fourth suit at the 4-level is a cuebid for the last bid suit.

Oh actually I misread your auction you were answering, I thought partner rebid 3 not 3. Over 3 then 4 is a great bid.

Kranyak Jump Reverse:

1-P-1-P-3 = artificial, 6-3 with fragment support and strong hand.

Perfect.

#1 most likely I would go with 3C
Who said "If I survive this round I will be in great shape."?

#2 4NT RKCB for hearts, partner will give me a
5431 shape, ... well I am not too far away with
6321

#3 bidding 3C is certainly not standard, but I doubt also,
that bidding 2S is.
2 NT as Lebensohl is alsonot standard
4NT over 3H as RKCB is certainly standard

With kind regards
Marlowe
