Good Day all,

I find the FD CC very useful and think that it can be better. I am not sure if there is a way to action my suggestion but if there is I would like to know.

The FD cc should allow for descriptions in competitive bidding: when I open opps bid a particular conventional bid and I have a counter conventional agreement.

For example;

1(partner) - 2(opps- showing majors) - 2(partner- limit raise for )

Is there a way to enter this situation on the FD CC?

If there is let me know and if not I think it will be a great improvement.

Keep up the good work...BBO is the best!

How to:
In FD editor, select your 1 opening and then enable competetive bidding.
[edited - I got lost on transcribing actions ;) ]
Enter the opps 2 bid. In the qualify box under the description box enter "both majors". Define your responders bids over that.
Go back to the opps 2 bid and redefine that a natural bid with "natural" in the qualify box. Define your responders bids over that.

If you examine the file using notepad, it will look like:
*00{sample}=NYYYYYY
001C2C{both majors}=NYYYYYY000Michaels
001C2C{both majors}2H=NYYYYYY008good !C raise
001C2C{natural}=NYYYYYY000Natural
001C2C{natural}2H=NYYYYYY008Natural
You must know the rules well - so that you may break them wisely!

Qualify Box is not functioning well.
Over Opponents 2C bid, based on the meaning, there are two choices.
Need to open convention card and select the appropriate meaning of the 2H bid and click on use.
That way the follow up sequence of bidding will be continued properly.
Simply clicking on 2H bid on the bid box will not do the follow up bids properly.

Design of Qualify Box still need some improvements.

Disable 'constructive' in 'settings' will allow you to enter opps. and your actions over that.

How is the FD system supposed to "know" whether opps' 2 was Michaels or something else? If opps use FD, you could condition on opps' bid being described as forcing or not, artificial or not etc. But you could not distinguish between 2 being Michael's or Top-Bottom since both would be described as forcing, artificial, promising 0-3 clubs.

And if opps' don't use the FD system, FD would have no clue at all.

In theory this renders FD completely useless since for example my 2-nd seat 1NT opening has different meaning whether RHO's pass is a standard pass or whether I'm playing against Todd/Atul who define pass as 14+ points. Such exotic situations aside, I think it's better not to use FD for defenses against bids that are likely to have difference meaning by different opps, such as a 2 opening. Of course you could make an FD file to be used against opps who play a specific set of conventions.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

As 99,9% plays nothing but Whist FD is best assuming opps. to be pure natural and manually to enter special defense into alert playing against strong systems.

Playing on ZONE it is so that if you enter something into the alert box the explanation from the convention card is suppressed and not visible for that specific bid. On BBO both explanations are visible. For us playing strong systems nothing of such creates any kind of problems.
