Scoring: IMP

RHO opens 1NT in 3rd seat. You have agreed to DONT.

Not sure what the point is of doubling with a hand like this, but if we agreed to play DONT I will stick to the agreement and double.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

I would only bid if I could bid 2 naturally right away (which normally I can't), because I want LHO to declare a major and partner to lead a diamond through the notrump opener. However I can see no point at all in doubling to show a single suited hand, so I pass.

I saw the option for 3 then threw up in my mouth a little :)

Double... what's with this no point stuff? What if we can compete for the partscore. Its not as if we are losing much, and if partner has some values he can ask us to bid if LHO bids 2 of a major, or maybe LHO is just going to pass and let us play 2D.

You help them find a 4-4 major suit fit if responder wasn't good enough to invite. And in all cases where you don't buy the contract you help them play the hand. I admit those are negatives to bidding, which is not the same as saying there is no point to bidding. So despite what I said before there is a point, but I still don't like it.

And I know those exist if I bid 2 like I wanted to as well. But that has more positives than doubling, especially (IMO) when you are relatively light.

If the system was not designed for me to show KQ10xxx with double or whatever then the problem is with the system, not with the bid.

X.

I want to compete, and the
hand is not suitable for 3D, so
X is, what is left.

With kind regards
