You play with decent pd and opps.

Scoring: IMP

3♦-p-p-3♥
p-p-X-p
p-?

Leftie thought a bit before his pass and his double was automatic.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Pass.

If you want to try to rescue p, XX is better
than 3S, at least it keeps clubs in play.

In the given seq. 3S is to play.

Yes, rescue. Rdbl if pard will understand it, 3♠ otherwise.

Pass.

I read your statement to say that 'Rightie' both made a slow pass and doubled, yet it was LHO that doubled. I'm confused (not that that's anything unusual ;)).

you're rightfully confused. I've edited it now

I would redouble. I don't know we have any good spot, but I'm pretty confident this spot is not good.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

The hearts are 'under' pard, right? Why should I think a black suit - especially clubs at the 4 level would be any better?

So I pass.

Yes and after considerable thought, since I think we are in trouble, I have to pass.

If I bid it will be 3♠ with my fine 5 card suit, rather than xx and maybe getting to the 4 level with my weak 4 card suit.

Now, if I was void in ♥, I'd likely run to 3♠ here, and if I had 5♣ I'd xx if void, and maybe even here.

I guess partner made a reasonable try for a H-fit to game. Failed. Now do I want unprepared trouble?? Partner knew his risk, didn't he? So he's prepared for my 1-trick (hopefully) helping hand.
