Ummm, what methods do you play over the 1NT opener, and shouldn't that factor into our decision?
Is the word "pass" not in your vocabulary?

Easy pass. We have a pile of quacks and they haven't advertised a fit.

Assume you've agreed "Capelletti" but haven't discussed it in any further detail.

My hand looks like a duck pond ! Pass all day long at IMPs and a reluctant pass red vs white at MP since if we double and don't catch PD with support, this will get ugly.

At the table, this hand's partner hesitated significantly over the 1NT opening. This hand reopened with a double in the position given which obviously was rolled back later by the director. In the course of the director call, two of the local experts were asked about this hand and both said they would have doubled anyway. One even said that pass had no merit.
Personally, I think double has little merit at these colors given partner could not act over the 1NT opening.

Can't assume that. I won't play cappelletti at gun point

Pass also. I think double has "no merit."

The only merit I can see in double is they might not know you are insane and bid 3♥. Of course "they might not know I'm insane" is not really a valid excuse to make a bid.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.
