Matchpoints, game all. You're playing with a sub (me) against semi-noobs. Agreed 2/1 udca.

I'd take out to 4, but that's close. In need of a top I'd try a pass. Since I could easily be 3334/2434/3424 on this bidding partner rates to have 5-card support for his 3-level bid. I think the odds for them making 3 is just to high to chance passing if I'm content with an average result on the board.
Kind regards,
Harald

I don't think that partner needs 5 clubs on this auction, I'd expect her to be 4-2-3-4 most likely, although 4-2-2-5 is also possible. KJxx xx QJx Axxx maybe? That probably beats 3D though it is not certain. 4C would probably be off 1. If partner is 4-2-2-5 then both might make.

I think it is a very close call but I'd probably pull.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I would go for 200 because I'm a sicko. I'd bid 4C at imps or if they are white.

4. Pass with six clubs? No thank you! The opponents even have a choice of suits, so they would truly have to be dumb for this to be passed out if partner has any sort of diamond stack.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Pass.

On reflection the winning call seems clear cut.

I am not 100% sure I would have made the X
with your hand.

Pass, it is matchpoints, I have defense. I go for the 200. Might they make it? Sure, so what, this isn't bridge, this is matchpoints. At imps, 4 is clear.

My first thought was 4, but it seems they have 7 spades between them, so we should be getting 2 spades, 1 heart , a heart ruff and natural diamond trick. Maybe a club too.

Tx.

As for my 3 bid and dbl: I had KQ75-Q8-73-AJ962. 3 is ok playing Lebensohl, right? What if not playing Lebensohl? Is dbl (of 2) better than 3? Having made the 3 bid, is there any alternative to X over 3?
