Red at imps I think I would have bid 4D with the north hand but maybe I'm resulting. The passed hand Xer is a big fav to have a stiff diamond so our honors are working and 3M could get us to the wrong suit anyways. I wouldn't say it's criminal to bid 3M though.

No, ... maybe the bridge gods.
North had a clear pass, South did well to
reopen, and North did bid 3H, which shows
that he wants South to reopen again.
Even if South reopens with an 3H overcall,
which is questionable at best, North should
pass.

Very tempting to bid 4♦ with the North cards, but you could be hanging partner for reopening.

Tough call but I think I'd push harder with the North hand with all of the prime cards and the double fit.

That was my thought, although I don't evaluate using ZARDOZ points.

We agree and maybe I am also resulting. No blame here..preempts work, and this is a nice fitting 21 HCP game.
The other way to find game here is for S to open, but that's a bit light for some tastes. However, this hand does show why many players open more aggressively now, than 20 years ago.

The lighter your partnership opens, the lighter the range for this T.O.X, and the greater the reason for passivity from North.
Roth Stoners might not open the South hand, and they might get to this game after a reopen T.O.X.
