2. Maybe it's idiotic, I dunno. There seems to be an option or two missing.

The obvious possibilities appear to be Pass, 1, 2, 2. And some "other" option for more farfetched possibilities.

1 or 2 depending on pd. I personally like bidding 2.

Pass, but willing to listen and learn.

As often this so depends on what p can pass with in first seat, 13 hcp or only lousy ten.

2 seems clear... Don't understand any of these poll choices :)

Hi,

1S, 2S or 2H.

Most likely I would go with 2H.

With kind regards

I won't bid 1 or Pass here.

2 and 2 come to mind, with all my values in I prefer 2.

looks like a 1 bid to me. Heck, partner may be about to make a responsive double of a raise, or a snapdragon of a 2 call... but, as with the other vote, I don't feel strongly about it....altho pass seems idiotic.

I don't know what I was doing when I made the poll late last night. The intended options were 1S and 2H. I understand that some like to bid 2S with this but I have a hard time understanding pass.

To me it seems a 1S bid but apparently not to a lot of people.

Given the choices listed, I'll pick "Something Imbecilic or idiotic or both", which is par for the course in my case.

2. It effectively makes the same lead directing bid that 1S does (assuming partner happens to end up on lead, which is already unlikely). It clues partner in that there might be a second place to play (1S does not). It lets the lead run up to partners hand (we have no reason to want the lead coming into our hand). The hand is about the expected strength for a non-vul michaels call, so partner shouldnt get carried away.

Of course, it helps that I prefer to play suit specific michaels where 2H shows spades & diamonds (two higher unbid), so partner can now accurately judge what to do immediately.

Personally I think 2S is umm, one of the "I" words, when the force starts immediately on your five card trump suit with no guarantee of a fit, but thats jmoo.
Is the word "pass" not in your vocabulary?

I don't think that 2 showing spades and diamonds is effectively the same lead director as 1S. Of course, I agree with you that it likely won't matter.

I'd bid 2H showing spades and diamonds (specific suiters); I'm 5-5 and two suited and need to get pard's involvement in the mix. Otherwise, 1S, far more than 2S.

Style thing. I knew Justin would bid 1, and so would one of my regulars on BBO.

I prefer 2 myself.

Normally 1, but 2 is OK too.
2 wouldn't enter my mind at all.
Kind regards,
