Please do one of your prefered things to do:

Blame my silly bidding:
Scoring: IMP

The bidding:
North East South West
1♣ 1 ♠ pass 3 ♠
4 ♦ all pass

Everything works fine, so you write down a seldom + 190 in your scoresheet.
Okay, grand is far away, but at least game had been an idea.

So who is to blame and what is your method to reach a good score?
Kind Regards

Roland

I'd say a reverse below game is forcing. And anyway, south has good cards so should definitely bid.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I say Han is to blame.

Sigh, that's what I get for making high-class jokes in other threads. Now Echo thinks he is funny too.

South should bid 5♦ I think. That said, North could have bid 4NT, would we really like to stop below game? Also, if my pd opened 2♣ sitting North, I would not strangle him violently.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Yeah, agree with 4NT, good point Csaba.

Both - North has 3-losers and could open 2C.
But after North reverses to 4D, South with 4♦ and the working ♣K has a clear 5D.
It costs nothing to be nice -- my better half

Not sure how many people would agree with your 2♣ recommendation...

This is a lovely hand and all, but I'd open 1♣ planning on reversing into Diamonds.

I said "could open 2C", not "should open 2C". 1C is not a wrong bid. Neither is 2C.

It has been said by others above. I think Nth should bid 4NT. Yes, a very good pd might bid 5D with the Sth cards on your given auction Roland, but it is putting a lot of pressure on him. Btw an opening 2C sucks imo.

Opening 2♣ is very bad and just resulting. As it went I agree with the 4NT idea, but south should have bid 5 of one of the minors anyway.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Agree with opening this at the 1-level. The main suit is far too weak to consider a forcing opening IMO.

4NT might be preferrable by north on his 2nd turn (I'm not convinced), but 4♦ should be (close to) forcing. I can see passing this broke with 3-1 in the minors, not else. South has a huge hand in context here; 4-3 in partner's suits and the ♣K. So I'd put all the blame on south.
Kind regards,
Harald

I'm certainly not going to blame South. He has a 4333 hand with only 1 useful king, and as has been stated on recent posts, partner has been pressurised by the opponents. I think to bid 5 of a minor with this hand is hanging partner for his enterprise.

North I think should be closer to forcing to game with his hand, either by 4NT, or a double of 3S (partner may pass it for penalties when no game is making).

How can S pass 4D? To my mind 4D is F to at least 5C, this is 100% the fault of S who has an easy raise to game in one of the denominations. I happen to think S should bid 4NT which should show a big raise of one of the minors. That makes sense to me as what else can 4N possibly mean in this place.

South should make a big raise?

While I agree that south shouldn't pass, I have a hard time believing that.
