Too good for a support X, but this has turned out really well. I bid 4S followed by 5D. (After hearing pd's hidden response).

I would have started with a Diamond reverse and then shown Heart support.

I'm also a 4♠ cue bidder. (And would rebid 5♦)

The bid untill now is fine. I'll continue with 4♠ cue-bid, and over 5♣ i'll bid 5NT (asking for good trumps for 7)

I prefer a support double to 2♦. Put the ♥KJ in the ♦suit, and 2♦ is better.

Not sure what I'd do now; probably 4N at the table.

Why are we cuebidding? Seems like an easy 4N bid, then if partner has 1 + Q +CK we can just bid 7. When partner has 0 or 3 I would just bid 6.

There is no maximum for a support double, and in fact any other bid on this hand (if playing support doubles) would be dumb. Amazing how it turned out really well, huh!

I would bid keycard, don't see how complicating things will help much. If partner shows 0 or 3 I will assume the heart queen or at absolute worst a finesse for the queen and bid 6♥.

Agree with jdonn. If you do not make a support double, you are denying 3 card heart support.

Absolutely agree with the double, can't see that a ♦ reverse could be better.
Now I think I'll just ask for keycards and get to 6 or 7 depending on partner's replies.

We play no limit on support X. Isn't that standard? Let's support with support before the opps get into their ♠ act and leave partner in the dark...

4nt now over 4♥. Partner doesn't have the trump Ace so we settle in 6. I expect him to have the Queen of ♥ and it's more likely that overcaller or partner has the ♣ King, so this looks pretty good.

nb - we play kickback so 4♠ would be RKC for ♥ and 4nt would be a ♠ cue bid. Partner would bid 4nt (1st step) over 4♠ kickback-inquiry to show 0 or 3... I can then still ask for the Queen if I have a mind to, via 5♣. (Not saying I would...)

Q for RKC afficianados: If you play regular RKC (not kickback) and 1430-style responses, and get the 5♦ (zero or 3) response over 4nt, you don't have a Queen-ask except 5♠, do you? 5♥ must be a sign-off it seems.....

Ralph, if you're "going by the book*," then 5♥ becomes the Q ask if the RKB responder holds 3, to play if he/she holds 0.
