I generally bid a lot better in situations that I have thought through or, even better, discussed, but that will never have covered everything, obviously.
Board 2 against Hamway (four-card majors precision):
Scoring: IMP

(1) P (1) P
(2) 3 (3) P
(P) X (P) ?

So partner passed first (he couldn't bid diamonds naturally, even though 1 showed 2+ only, but leave the system complaints for the dinner break please), then overcalled 3, then doubled 3S.

4H, hoping for a strong 1363. Pass might be right against some people but hamway compete with 3 over 3 much less often than most people so I don't think it's right vs them.

This doesn't strike me as near enough to convert partner's takeout double.

Seems like partner has a strong 1363 or 0463 or 0364. I bid 4H.

Passing for penalties at IMPs on Qxxx is unthinkable. I wouldn't even mention it if someone else didn't bring it up.

4 - pard's likely on a 1-3-5/6-x hand with good values. Converting on Q-8-7-6 against these 2 is likely to lead to -530's and worse.

4H with caveats. I'm a chicken, and I'm less hopeful about chances in a 5-3 contract. The communications will suck and dummy's high trump will be used to ruff my spades. Getting to my hand will be a big problem. But 4H is damage control.

Against Hamway I might just leave this in. Pard has a great hand sitting over the opener and they sound like they have an 8 card fit. -530 will just mean they won by a bigger margin.

Against a weak team I pull. I cant afford to toss 12 Imps on a hand like this.

At MPs I'm leaving this in and leading a diamond.

Good call. Partner had x KJx AKJxxxx KQ. Soloway led a trump, Hamman tanked, took the ace and started playing spades. Now I can't make unless I guess diamonds and T drops doubleton (which didn't). The damage control bid would have been 4 (making on the guess).

I think partner having four hearts is unlikely, with 1453 he would certainly double 2, so the only shapes with four hearts would be 0463 or maybe 1462.

A bit late for this one.

As Arend says, thinking partner to hold 4 hearts is dreaming.

Partner doubled 3 to play game, not to play a aprtscore (IMO he is a bit short for the double with his hand). So I discarded 4.

On either 4 or 3NT you won't like spade lead an continuation, but 3NT can make on a good day (0373 with 3 aces). I'd bet for that.

4H

I'm never passing this double with my hand. I wouldn't argue with partner's auction if he was 0463 or 1462, so I don't know his shape. It's disappointing that partner hasn't got AKx in hearts, but then I haven't got the ten.

4H, because its imps. I expect to go down.

At matchpoints I leave it in.
