Was I good enough for the 2H call? I thought so.

South lead the diamond ace, then cashed the club ace and continued with a diamond to the queen.

North leads the diamond king, I played the heart jack. South tanks and pitches a spade. I cashed the heart ace and north discards a club.

How do you continue? Would you play differently if south had discarded a club?

I guessed 4-4-2-3 and was right. Not sure why I did that.

South knows the full hand and knows I need to guess his shape, it's hard to draw inferences from his play.

Actually, at this point you always go down 2 if south started with 3-4-2-4. In that case you had to cash the club king first. If south was 5-4-2-2 he could have pitch a club for -2 so you just have to assume that he started with 4-4-2-3.

So if he pitches a spade, you cash club king and two high spades pitching a club, ruff a spade, ruff a club and ruff a spade low, south must give you the last two tricks.

If he pitches a club, you cash a spade and ruff a spade, go to dummy with the club king and pitch two clubs on your spades before ruffing the last one low.
