Partner opens a weak two in hearts, moderately sound at these colors (partner is not a junior). What's your plan? If you start with 3♦, partner will rebid 3♥; if you start with 2♠, partner will rebid 3♣ (natural, but could be just values in club).

3D to be followed with 3S and then 4S so that partner knows that I'm 5-6 and can decide which suit to play in. I may miss a slam opposite the heart ace but without a good fit there's a lot of work to do.

Adam, for the sake of clarity, what is 2NT in this construction?
"Champions aren't made in gyms, champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. " - M. Ali

the poll says ogust.

As stated in the poll, 2NT is ogust. This is asking about opener's hand; opener rebids:
3♣ to show minimum values and a poor suit relative to vulnerability
3♦ to show minimum values and a good suit (headed by AK, AQJ, or KQJ at red)
3♥ to show maximum values and a poor suit relative to vulnerability
3♠ to show maximum values and a good suit
3NT to show a suit headed by the AKQ (and therefore very little outside)
After opener's rebids, particularly those showing a good suit, it's normally assumed that hearts are agreed; in other words 2♥-2NT-3♦-3♠ would be a cuebid for hearts.
Also, new suit responses to a weak two are forcing in this partnership (I know some people play 2♥-3♦ NF but that's not standard in most places and not the case in this partnership).

What Justin said.

Facing a 1 suited weak 2 bid I would just bid out my shape and let pard work out if we belong in 5D or 4S. Slam is not in my photo book, but if pard comes to life I can be pursuaded.

Here's the actual hand:
No game makes. 5♦ is the best-scoring game contract, failing by one trick only; that's where Justin's auction should end. 3NT probably has the best chance to make, but is also likely to fail by multiple tricks when it doesn't make (and it will go down a bunch on the actual hands).
Both tables in the team game reached 4♥, failing by two tricks at one table and three at the other.

Wow, I am really getting confused and puzzled by this bidding lately. Not only here in the forum posted hands from real life but from online acbl bidding. I feel I am in the twilight zone for bidding.
