Scoring: MP

P=P=(1C)=1D
(1NT)=P=P=?

This was against Mark Lair last night.

pass, looks like partner is weak and has length in both majors.

pass: not close, but if forced not to pass, would bid 2.

I would ask (if using screens or online) if rho opens 1 on 4=4=3=2. If so, then 2 could catch a 5413 or 4513 in partner's hand and even the right major suit could make the hand play well in clubs.

But if rho is marked with 3+ clubs, the odds go down, almost as much as our contract will. Meanwhile, they may fail in 1N, even after our brilliant lead-directing overcall.

A reluctant pass, hoping to beat 1NT for +100 and expecting PD to have little in and to be rather weak with length in both majors since LHO is most unlikely to have a 4 card major and should therefore have a couple .

On hands where 2 somehow makes, we may set 1NT I think ... neilkaz ..

Pass.
Partner rates to have 9+ cards in the majors.
When he doesn't act here (double or 2, whatever used to show both majors, or bids one of them) he's pretty weak. We most probably don't have a fit at all, and besides, we can often beat 1NT.
Kind regards,
Harald

Hi,

I would not have overcalled in the
first place, I would have passed, thats
what I do now.

No idea, if 2C now would be natural anyway,
and I not going to find.

With kind regards
Marlowe

Obvious pass, agree 100% with Harald, partner has 4+ and 5+, and he's very weak, and the misfit it's obvious.

Well, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm going to try 2C as long as partner will decide it is natural (which I think it should be).

Whilst I may go off in 2 of a minor, I think it would be pessimistic to assume that would be the case, and they may try a contract at the 2 level, which I'd be happier defending.
