The topic of bridge on TV has come up again in another thread. We just started getting a new channel here in Canada on our Starchoice satellite called CGTV (Casino and gaming television). The content seems to be mostly poker related but I was interested to find the other night that they were broadcasting "Charles Goren's Championship Bridge". It's a show that's obviously from before my time (I'd assume early '50's). It was fun to watch just to see how they did things back in that era (both from a bridge standpoint and a TV production standpoint). I'd recommend checking it out if this channel is available in your area.

Goren once had a regular column in Sports Illustrated. Bridge was mainstream.

maybe a sign that people are getting dumber?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I suspect its a sign that (gasp) TV is getting better...
I suspect that if anything like this were to happen, it wold probably evolve out of the Vugraph's that are being conducted on BBO.
The cost to produce / distribute Vugraph is a fraction of what would be required to broadcast a Television show. For me, the big question is whether or not folks would be willing to pony up any money in order to get a professional group of commenter's. (I have a lot of respect for the volunteers that we have right not. At the same time, I wouldn't mind seeing folks like Kokish actively involved which might take money)

I'll volunteer to talk about bridge and get paid for it.
