I just noticed that - unlike most others - when I last posted, my sidebar showed

"warn(0%)" and then 4 orange rectangles (correction 5 such! ).

What does this mean, and why is it in place?

NB although I comment on forums, I have never played on BBO (for a variety of reasons) , and query whether it is in some way connected.

AFAIK I have neither used immoderate language nor engaged in even moderately controversial debate (with the possible exception of advocacy of relays, light openings, ferts and 2-way actions which may include weakness for very strong hands).

Just curious....

regards

My sidebar also always show this. I expect that's the case for most posters (unless the've received a warning) - they can see this themselves, but others can't.
Kind regards,
Harald

Everyone can only see their own "warning level". 95+ % of people have warning level of 0%, which means you have never been warned..... You can no see other peoples warning level...

I think he is partially asking if a "warning" on BBO carries over to the forums. I believe the answer to this is "no". (correct me if I am mistaken though, Ben).

It is for warnings to users of the forums.

I would expect a warning to be given for inappropriate forum postings/violations of forum rules by the moderators.

If your warning level were to reach 100%, I would expect that poster to be banned from the forums. I believe the bars are there as a means of letting a poster know what their warning level is, and how close they are to getting banned for forum posting violations.

However, it is not clear what weight any specific warning might carry, nor does it indicate how that weight/percentage is defined. After all some offenses are clearly worse than others.

Do the moderators assign a percentage to each warning? Or is each warning a "set" (i.e. 20% or 25%) percentage, so that after 4-5 warnings for any infractions, you are automatically banned?

How long do warnings last? Do they ever drop off your "record"?

I don't have any, nor do I expect to incur any, but then life is just full of surprises, ain't it?
Is the word "pass" not in your vocabulary?
So many experts, not enough X cards.

I have had one for a long time and it has not gone away. I think they stay forever.
